Project description
Schijns Structural Engineering was responsible for performing the structural calculations and construction drawings for the wide slab floors of the basement deck floor located above the sprinkler reservoir, and for the engineering of the approximately 50 loading docks of the Medel distribution center in Tiel.
The distribution center of no less than nearly 40,000 square meters is rising at Medel Business Park, one of the prime logistics locations in the Netherlands.
What posed a challenge in this project was the very high load on the basement deck combined with the slender design of the floor. The load on the floor is more than 25 times higher than the load for a residential function.
