Sports hall De Gouwehal Waddinxveen
Location: Waddinxveen
Challenge: In collaboration with another engineering firm, the curtain wall of sports hall De Gouwehal in Waddinxveen was calculated. De Gouwehal is a modern, hybrid sports hall in Waddinxveen. A unique aspect of De Gouwehal is its direct connection to the clubhouse of football club ASW, which provides for shared facilities such as changing rooms and a canteen. What makes De Gouwehal special is its sustainable and circular design. Materials were reused during construction, such as wood and steel from the old town hall and the former childcare facility at Beukenhof. Additionally, the building is fully demountable, enabling future repurposing or reuse of materials. The aluminium curtain wall is demountable and can be dismantled and reused in the future. The hall is suitable for various indoor sports, including futsal, indoor field hockey, handball, and gymnastics. The space is also used for physical education by local schools.
